The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Foundation offers scholarships to students who aspire to have a career in engineering. In this way, the scholarship program helps promote education and encourages educational, personal and social achievement
Dear Students,
Your future professional order actively participates in National Engineering Month, a nationwide initiative to promote the profession to young people and to highlight excellence in engineering. Here is an overview of the activities on the program.
To help his uncle, who has muscular dystrophy, Charles Deguire and his friend Louis-Joseph Caron L’Écuyer, Jr. Eng., invented JACO, the only robotic arm of its kind in the world and the flagship product of Kinova, their fledgling company with over 200 employees.

JACO is an extremely complex product that involves several areas of engineering, but mainly electronic engineering, robotics engineering and software engineering. The result: a light, compact, energy-efficient and very flexible robotic arm (with six axes and one hand with three fingers).

Most stores in developed countries now accept credit cards as a common form of payment for goods and services. In Canada, credit cards are one of the most common forms of payment for consumer goods and services.
Usage and Repayment - Credit card borrowing limits are established by the issuer, according to each individual’s credit rating. Credit cards charge interest and are intended to be used for short-term financing, although Canadian consumers have shown a propensity to carry credit card debt for long periods of time. Interest rates are usually applied to a credit card account one month after a purchase is made and typically have higher interest rates than consumer loans or lines of credit.

As part of National Engineering Month, which is celebrated in March, the Student Newsletter will talk to you about social commitment, using the example of an international cooperation project: orchard irrigation in Notatinga, Burkina Faso.

This Ingénieurs sans frontières Québec (ISFQ, or the Québec Chapter of Engineers Without Borders) project is being carried out by engineering students and professionals.

Dominic Nappert, a 3rd-year agri-environmental engineering student at Université Laval, tells us more about it.
Starting in 2019, it will be possible to recharge your car in the same time it takes to fill a tank,  according to Japanese firm Toshiba. It has created a new car battery that recharges in 6 minutes and offers a 320 km range.
