Dear Students,

April 1 officially marks the beginning of the implementation of the ENG2020 Plan, the strategic plan unanimously adopted by the Board of Directors to steer its activities until 2020.

As I pointed out earlier this year in this newsletter, the plan includes actions to modernize the junior engineer period, a key step in the path that leads to obtaining the engineer’s permit.

But the ENG2020 Plan also includes several other actions to:
  • strengthen our public protection mechanisms;
  • improve professional practice by engineers;
  • and stay close to members.
Want a brief overview of our directions in the next three years? We produced a two-minute video that you will find in this newsletter. Take the time to watch it!

Soirées reconnaissance: a success!

Around thirty of your peers participated in the Soirées reconnaissance that the OIQ held across Québec in recent weeks. In fact, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Foundation used these evenings to present engineering students with 30 scholarships worth $3,000. I would like to sincerely congratulate the scholarship recipients!

The engineers who attended these events were able to see the quality of the future engineers who will soon enter the profession. Many of these engineers attended to celebrate the end of their junior engineer period last year. Others attended for the regional recognitions awarded to companies whose engineers had delivered innovative engineering projects.

Go to the OIQ’s site to find out more about these events and visit our Facebook page to see the photos from them!
